Private Practice Focus
The focus of my practice is primarily young adults (16-28 years old), though I also work with adults of all ages and families.
Young adults have a myriad of issues that may bring them into therapy. Developmentally they are experiencing significant life changes, such as development of self outside of the family, graduating high school, living on their own, attending college or starting employment, beginning romantic relationships, navigating friendships and family, etc. Therapy can provide a safe space for these individuals to explore their feelings, express their needs and experiences, and identify ways to positively cope. And, through learning these skills earlier in life, they are better equipped emotionally as they enter adulthood to live more fulfilling lives.
Reasons why young adults may seek therapy:
-Wants to feel understood
-Feels sad, depressed, or lost
-Overly stressed
-Struggles with low self esteem and self worth
-Going through the divorce of parents
-Perfectionistic
-Anxious, worrier
-Having difficulty coping with loss
-Apathetic, lack of work ethic
-Angry, irritable
-Exploring sexuality and romantic relationships
-Self harming, suicidal thoughts
-Wants to find more meaning in life
-Trying to cope with the absence or poor choices of a parent
-Confused about direction of life
-Having difficulty with friendships
-Needs to set better boundaries with family members or friends
-Emotionally ready to process childhood issues and/or trauma
-Wants to be emotionally more mature/healthier with positive coping skills
